Project area C: Characterization and Properties

HyPo-materials have a high potential for use in components subject to high dynamic stresses. The properties of anisotropy and heterogeneity, which are important for fulfilling their function, require a rethink in material characterization away from purely volumetric material properties and towards local property determination. The correlation between the microscopic and the resulting macroscopic material behavior is elementary here. This relationship will be investigated in project area C, as are the tribological properties of the HyPo-materials and the non-destructive measurement of the material and density ratios using high-resolution computer tomography measurement technology.
