Project area A: Calculation and Design
The central scientific questions in project area A concern the modeling and simulation of the material properties of HyPo-materials as well as the design of components made of HyPo-materials. The properties of such materials are locally variable and anisotropic. In order to calculate, design, understand and produce such components ready for use, new, adapted and cross-scale numerical models and simulation techniques must be developed. In addition, the findings on the component properties are transferred to the design. Research will therefore be carried out into the possibilities offered by HyPo-materials for statically and dynamically stressed components in mechanical engineering, and which specific aspects need to be considered during design.
