TRR 375

Gender equality

Equal opportunities for researchers and the compatibility of career and family are a central concern of the Collaborative Research Center. For this reason, TRR 375 offers a wide range of measures for equal opportunities and a family-friendly workplace. There are offers that are specifically aimed at women in science, as well as offers that can be used by all parents in TRR 375. All TRR 375 researchers have access to the diverse programs of the participating universities, which are coordinated and implemented by the RPTU Equal Opportunities, Diversity and Family Office and the LUH Equal Opportunities Office. We have also developed our own measures.

At the kick-off event of TRR 375, Margaretha Sinner was elected by the project leaders and doctoral researchers as Equal Opportunities Officer. She implements measures to ensure gender equality and equal opportunities in close coordination with the spokesperson.

Measures in TRR 375

  • Support and relief for parents through student assistants
  • Personnel funds for support of employees due to reduction of working hours for family reasons
  • Establishment of home offices for employees with small children
  • The TRR 375 provides special support to all employees with children, e.g. in finding childcare facilities and schools
  • Additional funding for childcare so that members of the TRR 375 can take qualification measures within and outside the TRR
  • Demand-oriented provision of funds for example for childcare outside the opening hours of the day-care centers during work-intensive project phases or when attending scientific conferences
  • Invitation of renowned national and international female researchers to events who can serve as role models for young female researchers
  • Introducing talented female students to scientific work. Particularly qualified female students are employed as student assistants in largely independent, manageable research tasks within the projects of the TRR. If interested, the management also arranges student research projects in the various subject areas of TRR 375
  • Support for the measures of RPTU and its departments of mechanical and process engineering and computer science as well as the LUH and its faculty of mechanical engineering, which serve the equal opportunities of female and male researchers as well as the promotion of scientists with young children. Those measures are supported that are used by employees of the TRR 375 or are aimed at young scientists in the subject areas involved in the TRR 375
