At our 7th Scientific Colloquium, Jan Wiartalla from the Institute of Mechanism Theory, Machine Dynamics and Robotics at RWTH Aachen gave a presentation on the challenges in the implementation of a multidirectional additive manufacturing. He explained the individual steps involved in planning a robot-specific process chain - from slicing and path planning to trajectory planning. It became clear how important a detailed understanding of each individual step in the process chain is in order to fully exploit the high potential of robot-supported additive manufacturing.
